Job Description and Person SpecificationVolunteer Driver

Location:
To transport centre users between Coventry Resource Centre for the Blind in Earlsdon, and their respective homes (journeys are ordinarily no longer than 5 miles from the Centre).  Petrol expenses are reimbursed by the Society at a rate of 35p per mile.  You would not be requested to transport Guide Dogs in your vehicle (unless of course you are happy to). 

Purpose of Role:
We require volunteers who would be willing to transport visually impaired centre users between Coventry Resource Centre for the Blind and their homes.  This is mainly required on days when we deliver social groups. 

DRIVERS ARE CURRENTLY NEEDED FOR:

Monday Drop In Groups (Delivered Weekly from 10.00am until 12.00pm)    
to transport people (who all live locally to Earlsdon) from home in order that they arrive at Coventry Resource Centre for the Blind  for 10.00am on Mondays and to collect people from Coventry Resource Centre for the Blind at 12.00pm on Mondays and drive them home 

Thursday Lunch Club (Delivered Weekly from 10.00am until 3.00pm) 
to transport people (who all live locally to Earlsdon) from home in order that they arrive at Coventry Resource Centre for the Blind for 10.00am every Thursday and to collect people from Coventry Resource Centre for the Blind at 2.30pm every Thursday and drive them home 

We also require volunteers who could drive on a more occasional basis (for example to cover leave or as a one off request from a centre user).  

Skills and Requirements for the Role: 
Volunteer Drivers will be required to possess the following: 
Use of own vehicle         
Full, clean driving licence
Friendly, patient and approachable manner
