The Lord Mayor gives Thumbs Up to eventOn 22nd January 2008, Coventry Society for the Blind held a Re-Launch Event and Open Day for local people with a visual impairment, service providers and other partner organisations. The event was a great success and was attended by over 100 people, including the Lord Mayor Cllr. Dave Batten and Cllr Taylor, Leader of Coventry City Council.
The day provided an opportunity for people with a visual impairment to consult with service providers about existing support available for people with a visual impairment and suggestions for the future. A new website for Coventry Society for the Blind was formally launched at the event and it is hoped that this new internet presence will prove a valuable source of information and communication for people with a visual impairment as well as raising awareness of the services available from the Society.
Regular tours of the Resource Centre ran throughout the day and included information on our Transcription Service, Resources and Supported Computer Sessions. Also providing demonstrations of equipment and information were Enhanced Vision, Computer Room Services, VISTA (the Visually Impaired and Sighted Tandem Association), Wireless for the Blind and Community Broadcasting Services.
