Friday 15th January saw the first of our Friday outings using the new minibus.
A group of happy shoppers went to the Airport Retail Park including such outlets as Dunelm Mill, PC World, B & N bargain shop etc. Coffee break was at the Dunelm Mill cafe. Back in the minibus, the group decided to go to the Maudslay pub for lunch, and a good time was had by all, then transported safely home by John - volunteer driver.
We are hoping to run many more outings to make the most of our new minibus to enable blind and partially sighted people to get out and about. These will probably be on Fridays, with pick up points at the Resource Centre and in the City Centre (by the swimming baths), with transport back to people's homes. Cost will vary depending on the destination for each trip - this shopping trip cost £6.50 return)
If you would be interested in joining future trips or have ideas for outings, please phone us at the Resource Centre.
