The latest in assistive technology comes to CRCB
On Tuesday 25th April a range of companies brought the latest in assistive technology to Coventry Resource Centre for the Blind on our Focus Day. The event ran from 10:30am until 2:30pm and service users, volunteers and members of the public came by to trial technology and talk to the experts.
The companies OrCam, Enhanced Vision, Optelec, and Vision Aid set up in the Mary Beale room at the rear of the building, ready to greet the public.
People were keen to trial technology such as a variety of readers.
Trustee/Manager Rosie Brady was especially interested in trying out the OrCam Reader and Orcam My Eye.
Rosie, who is partially sighted, described the technology as "amazing and life-changing" but admitted she would be keen to learn more about the programming part: "I would like to know how independent a visually impaired person can be with this device."
At CRCB we believe Focus Days are incredibly important opportunities for people to learn more about assistive technology through demonstrations carried out by professionals.
The companies, who came and interacted with our service users, were extremely informative and friendly.
We very much look forward to our next Focus Day at CRCB.
